Operation

To start engine, Q5000's reset knob is turned to the "start" position and the engine manufacturer's starting procedures are followed. After the engine is started, engine oil pressure rises to arm Q5000, causing the reset knob to "drop out" to the run position. It is critical that the engine operator make sure engine lube oil pressure is established and Q5000's reset knob drops out to "run" position.

A reduction in engine lube oil pressure to 12 ± 2 psi at Q5000's pilot port causes Q5000 to shut off fuel to the engine. The Q5000's reset knob must always be returned to the "start" position to start the engine after the engine is shutdown.
