What Happened to Robertshaw Industrial Products?

Robertshaw was a well-known manufacturer of industrial control products, including temperature regulators, gas control valves, vibration switches, and pneumatic control valves, widely used on engines, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment.

On January 23, 2026, Schneider Electric™ notified customers that it will close its Maryville, TN facility — the plant that produces RSI and Centeron products — with end of production expected by July 31, 2026. RSI products will no longer be available after that date.

As a result, many customers who relied on Robertshaw part numbers, including I-1284, 1280, 1281, 1285, 85380, 98987, I-542, 83939, 368, 365A, and 563A, are actively searching for alternatives. Temperature Control Valves — Replacements for Robertshaw I-1284, 1280, 1281, 1285 Series

The Robertshaw I-1284, 1280, 1281, and 1285 series are three-way proportioning valves used to regulate jacket water and lube oil temperature on internal combustion engines, compressors, and other industrial equipment. AMOT offers two replacement options:

AMOT Model B — Direct Replacement:

The Model B is a like-for-like replacement for the Robertshaw 1280/1281/1284/1285 series. It fits the same pipe connections, covers the same temperature set point range (100°F–195°F), and is available in sizes 2" through 6". If your priority is a clean, no-modification swap, the Model B is the standard choice.

AMOT Model G — Drop-In Upgrade:

The Model G installs in the same footprint as the Robertshaw series and the AMOT Model B but delivers two measurable improvements: reduced stem leakage and better temperature control repeatability. For operators who want tighter thermal management, not just a like-for-like substitute, the Model G is the recommended option. Both models offer matching flange connections or a wide variety of configurations to fit your existing installation.

Gas Engine Fuel Shutoff Valve — Replacement for Robertshaw 85380

The AMOT Model 2180 diaphragm-operated fuel valve is the qualified replacement for the Robertshaw 85380 Fuel Gas and Starting Air Valve. The AMOT 2180 is available in both ductile iron and carbon steel with a variety of connection configurations, making it suitable for gas engine applications in oil and gas, power generation, and industrial environments.

Pressure and Temperature Switches — Replacements for Robertshaw 98987 and I-542

Model B or Model G? How to Choose

Choose the AMOT Model B if:

• You need a fast, exact replacement with minimal decision-making
• The existing installation has tight constraints and you want to match the original specification precisely
• You are stocking spares and want the closest direct substitute for the Robertshaw 1280/1281/1284/1285 series

Choose the AMOT Model G if:

• You want tighter temperature control than the original Robertshaw valve provided
• Stem leakage has been a maintenance problem on your current installation
• You are replacing valves on critical equipment where performance improvement matters
• You are standardizing across multiple units and want to upgrade the specification at the same time

Both options install in the same footprint. The Model G delivers measurably better temperature control repeatability. For most operators doing a planned Robertshaw replacement, the Model G is the recommended choice.
