8402 Gas Turbine Fuel Metering Valve

SKU 8402

The AMOT 8402 is a high-performance gas turbine fuel metering valve for industrial and aeroderivative gas turbines. It is a balanced rotary valve driven by an electric stepper-motor actuator to deliver fast response, precise fuel flow control, and a wide turndown ratio across the full operating range of the turbine.

When paired with the AMOT 4420 fuel shutoff valve, the 8402 forms a complete, dependable gas fuel control and shutoff solution for turbomachinery gaseos fuel trains.

Features and Benefits

  • Precise turbine control - allows a single valve to be used where two valves were previously required
  • Single valve from light-off to full power - 500:1 turndown ratio enables one valve to meter gas fuel from ignition through maximum load, simplifying system design and reducing installed cost.
  • Full stroke operating speed of 350ms
  • Digital optical encoder provides absolute repeatability of +/-0.3% of stroke
  • Carbon steel or stainless steel construction - durable for long life
  • Certified for hazardous areas (Class I, Division 1, Groups C & D; NEMA 7 & 9) support demanding oil and gas, power generation, and industrial sites
  • All electric - eliminates need for a hydraulic actuation system

Applications

The 8402 gas turbine fuel metering valve is custom engineered for:

  • Industrial and aeroderivative gas turbines requiring precise gas fuel metering

  • Power generation units operating on natural gas or other gaseous fuels

  • Oil and gas compression and pumping stations

  • Mechanical drive applications for compressors and large rotating equipment

  • Retrofit and upgrade projects where operators want to move from hydraulic to all-electric fuel control

Combined with the AMOT 4420 fuel shutoff valve, the 8402 offers a complete fuel control and emergency shutoff system for a wide range of turbomachinery applications.

Operation

How it works?

The 8402 is a balanced rotary gas turbine fuel control valve designed for accurate gas fuel metering over an extremely wide flow range. An electric stepper-motor actuator rotates the valve element to increase or decrease the effective metering area, controlling the flow of fuel gas to the turbine.

A high-resolution absolute digital encoder continuously measures valve position. This feedback allows the turbine control system to precisely position the valve, maintaining the required fuel flow to keep the turbine operating in its optimal efficiency and safety range.

The high 500:1 turndown ratio means that a single 8402 valve can typically manage fuel from light-off to maximum power, improving control accuracy and reducing the need for multiple valves or complex parallel arrangements.

The actuator enclosure is engineered for hazardous locations and certified for operation in explosive gas atmospheres, supporting reliable service in remote and demanding environments.
