Chalwyn Diesel Engine Safety Products

Chalwyn pioneered the concept of diesel engine overspeed valves in conjunction with Esso Research in the 1970s. Production of the original Chalwyn D Valve began in 1972, and the little yellow valve soon became the accepted solution for diesel engine overspeed protection at all European refineries. New global safety standards led to diversification into butterfly style air intake shutoff valves in the 1990s and alternators, spark arrestors, and hazardous area certified products to meet the European ATEX Directives of 2003.

As the world of modern diesel engines changed to meet more stringent emission standards, Chalwyn continued its pioneering spirit with a new range of compact electric valves and kits for many popular light vehicles and trucks. In 2008, AMOT acquired Chalwyn and manufacturing operations relocated to AMOT’s Bury St. Edmunds, UK site. Today, Chalwyn’s range of products continue to meet the needs of international oil companies seeking to improve safety in refineries and on drilling sites.
