Rigsaver SGE Air Shut Off Valve- Large Bore

SKU 6.5" - 11" SGE

Product Description

The Rigsaver SGE Series Air Shut Off Valve - Large Bore is a proven, worldwide standard for diesel engine overspeed protection in large-bore applications. Installed in the air intake system, it cuts off the airflow to the cylinders and positively immobilizes the engine, safeguarding personnel, equipment, and the environment.

Designed for both manual or automatic control, the Rigsaver SGE valve responds instantly to a variety of fault or hazard conditions. Its rugged construction and broad operating range make it ideal for onshore and offshore environments—from the Canadian Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, deserts of Africa, Middle East, and Pacific Rim.

Key Features

  • Manual or Automatic Controls: Flexible operation to suit different safety systems.
  • Reliable in Harsh Environments: Trusted for decades in extreme onshore and offshore conditions.
  • Multiple Sizes: Available from 6.5" to 11”unrestricted port sizes for small to large-bore diesel engines.
  • High Temperature Capability: Operates safely at ambient and induction air temperatures between 350°F – 400°F (176°C – 205°C); optional high-temperature valves available.

Operation

The Rigsaver air intake shutoff valve is a swing-gate, spring-operated air shut-off device mounted in the air intake system. It will impede the airflow into the cylinders and positively stop the engine. It can be installed pre- or post-turbo.  The Rigsaver shutoff valve can be manually or automatically controlled to respond to a variety of fault or hazard conditions.

Interface options (contact us for detailed information)
  • Marmon flange
  • Hose mount
  • Nozzles
  • Slip fit (male& female)
  • Bolted flange
  • Custom castings
Tripping options

Manual/pull cable: This is the simplest method. The gate is released by pulling on a handle or cable attached to the tip spindle.

Manual/pneumatic: The trip is retracted by an integrated pneumatic cylinder. A manually-operated three-way valve directs air pressure to release the trip spindle. The pneumatic trip cylinder may also be tripped manually by pulling on a handle or cable attached to the trip spindle.

Electric: The trip is retracted by a 12 volt or 24 volt electric solenoid which is controlled by an automatic overspeed sensor and associated valving. The pneumatic trip cylinder may also be tripped manually by pulling on a handle or cable attached to the tip spindle.

Pneumatic: The trip spindle is retracted by a pneumatic cylinder. The trip cylinder is controlled by an automatic overspeed sensor and associated valving. The pneumatic trip cylinder may also be tripped manually by pulling on a handle or cable attached to the tip spindle.
