Privacy and Cookie Policy

Effective Date: June 21, 2024

This cookie policy (“cookie policy”, “policy”) applies to the cookies provided on all websites that link to this cookie policy (“website”, “service”) operated by AMETEK, Inc. or its affiliates (“us”, “we”, “our”), as identified on each relevant website.

If you would like to read this Cookie Policy in one continuous document or would like to print it, please click here.

Please read this Cookie Policy in conjunction with the Privacy Policy linked in the footer of the website you visited.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a file placed on your computer or mobile or handheld device (such as smartphones or tablets) when you visit certain pages on the Internet. The cookie contains an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that a web server sends to a web browser and that the browser stores. The browser sends the identifier back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.

Cookies may be either “persistent” cookies or “session” cookies; a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire when the user closes the web browser.

“First party” cookies are set by the website or application you are visiting and they can only be read by that site or application.

“Third party” cookies are not set by the owner of the website or application you are visiting, but by a different organization. For example, advertisers and other third parties may use their own cookies when you click on a link on our website, or we might engage a third-party analytics company that will set their own cookie to perform this service.

Local Storage Objects

We may use Flash Local Storage Objects (“Flash LSOs”) to store your website preferences and to personalize your visit. Flash LSOs are different from browser cookies because of the amount and type of data stored. Typically, you cannot control, delete, or disable the acceptance of Flash LSOs through your web browser. For more information on Flash LSOs, or to learn how to manage your settings for Flash LSOs, go to the Adobe Flash Player Help Page, choose “Global Storage Settings Panel” and follow the instructions. To see the Flash LSOs currently on your computer, choose “Website Storage Settings Panel” and follow the instructions to review and, if you choose, to delete any specific Flash LSO.

Clear GIFs, pixel tags and other technologies

Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on your computer or device’s hard drive, clear GIFs are embedded invisibly on web pages. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. web beacons, web bugs or pixel tags), in connection with our Site to, among other things, track the activities of website visitors, help us manage content, and compile statistics about website usage. We and our service providers may also use clear GIFs in HTML e-mails to our customers, to help us track e-mail response rates, identify when our e-mails are viewed, and track whether our e-mails are forwarded.

In this Cookie Policy, we refer to all these technologies as “cookies”.

Cookies generally do not contain any information that personally identifies a user, but will instead collect your device identifier, or your internet protocol (IP) address, or more general information such as how visitors arrive at and use our website. Any personal data we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies. Cookies may also be used to create a profile of your activities on the Internet which can be used (for example) to try to predict your purchasing and behavioral preferences.

Cookies on our Website

Complete information about the cookies used on any one of our websites is available in the Cookie Preference Center for that website.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are classified as cookies that must be present for the website to provide the basic functions of the website. They are essential to be able to access features of the website and you cannot opt-in or opt-out of these cookies. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of our Site may not work if you block these types of cookies.

Performance Cookies

Not all of our websites use Performance cookies. Our websites that use Performance Cookies will state so in the Cookie Preference Center. Performance cookies are cookies used specifically for gathering data on how visitors use a website, which pages of a website are visited most often, or if they get error messages on web pages. Performance cookies also recognize and collect information about the number of visitors, how long they view pages and how they move around our website when they are using it. All this information helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that visitors are easily finding what they are looking for. If you do not consent to these types of cookies we will not be able to improve our website based on information from your visit.  These cookies monitor only the performance of the site as the user interacts with it.

Functional Cookies

Not all of our websites use Functional Cookies. Our websites that use Functional Cookies will state so in the Cookie Preference Center. Functional Cookies allow websites to remember the user's site preferences and choices they make on the site including username, region, and language. If you refuse Functional Cookies, we may not be able to give effect to some or all of your preferences and choices.

Targeting Cookies

Targeting Cookies (which include advertising cookies) are specifically designed to gather information from you on your device to display advertisements and content to you based on relevant topics that interest you (“Targeting”), both within and beyond our website. Not all of our websites use Targeting Cookies. Our websites that use Targeting Cookies will state so in the Cookie Preference Center. These cookies collect data about your online activity, including your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. They identify your interests so that we can provide advertising that we believe is relevant to you. We may use this information to make our website and the Targeting displayed on it, and the marketing messages we send to you, more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with third parties who provide a service to us for this purpose. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the Targeting and to monitor from which Targeting source a visitor was directed towards our website so that we know whether it is worth for us to invest in that particular Targeting source.

These cookies may be set through our website or by our third-party Targeting partners. They may be used by those partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and Internet device. If you do not consent to these types of cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising (but not less advertising overall).

You can manage your cookie preferences through our Cookie Preference Center, except with respect to Strictly Necessary cookies. The Cookie Preference Center will record your preferences for allowing cookies. To increase the protection of your data when visiting our websites, plugins are embedded using either the “Shariff Solution” or the “Two Click Solution”. This means that when a page of this Site is accessed, a connection to the servers of the respective plugin provider is not yet established.

Your web browser establishes a direct connection to the respective plugin provider’s servers only when you activate the plugins. This way, the plugin provider receives information that your web browser has accessed our website, even when you do not maintain a user account with the provider or are not logged in. Log files (including the IP address) are transmitted directly from your web browser to a server of the respective plugin provider and may be stored there. This server may be located outside the EEA or UK (such as in the U.S.).

If you do not wish for a plugin provider to receive, save, and use data gathered through our websites, you should not use that plugin. You can find out more about the purpose and scope of the data collection, as well as about processing and use of your data by plugin providers and about your rights and options to change settings to protect your data, in the privacy statements of the plugin providers (see above).

Social media links

The website may contain links to AMETEK social media pages from the following companies:

These links are not plug ins; they are links to external AMETEK social media pages via standard functionality. No cookies are set in relation to these links when browsing our website. Should you click any of these links you will be directed to the relevant social media page. Each of these social media companies operates their websites independently of AMETEK, including their own cookie policies and privacy policies and settings. Please visit the respective social media companies’ privacy information for further details.
